Press On

Every year in December I spend time considering the new year and what the Lord is speaking to me. This practice of having a one-word focus and a scripture to support it, has blessed me for the past few years. My words have been: rest, trust, and light.

This year’s word, light, seemed so much easier at the beginning of the year. Before COVID, before back surgery, and before all the hiccups with purchasing our property. Even so, God is true and constant. His light shines in our darkness, and in him there are no shadows.

What does my future look like? What will help me navigate through what comes next? This will be my scripture for 2021:

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14 (AMP)

I haven’t quite figured out the one-word yet. It could be: onward, upward, toward, progress, move, realize, focus, act, or a two-word – press on. These are all good words, fitting for what is on the horizon. I am amazed every time as I find the God inspired thread that stitches everything together. I can’t wait to settle into his leading.

Do you have your word and scripture yet? I’d love if you would share it here with me and my readers.

May the Father of Light bring you every good gift he has for you in this season.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy

  1. I love to start considering the new year in December too, Sandy! The word “reaching” stands out to me in the scripture you quoted. I’m pretty sure my word for 2021 is “confidence,” but I haven’t selected my scripture yet. I welcome suggestions! 🙂
