When life gets busy, we can lose sight of God. When a moment of quiet comes, we may look around and wonder if he’s still there. And when we can’t find him, there are a couple of ways we might respond. One way is to berate ourselves for losing sight of him in the first place. Another could be to make promises to spend more time reading our Bible. Or we could remember he never left. Let’s look at a few scriptures.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.‬‬

Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV

God is omnipresent. Man can’t be in two places at once, but God can. While he is with us, he also goes before us preparing the plans he has in store for us. Here is Jesus telling us the same thing.

And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭20b‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The promise of God’s presence in our lives remains unbroken.

For ever since the creation of the universe his invisible qualities — both his eternal power and his divine nature — have been clearly seen, because they can be understood from what he has made. Therefore, they have no excuse.‬‬

Romans (Rom)‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬ ‭CJB

Here we’re told about how God’s invisible qualities can be seen in creation.

We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose.‬‬

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭CEV

God is at work behind the scenes calming the storms, lighting the path, preparing a feast, and training us for battle — to name a few ways listed in scripture. One of the most quoted scriptures reveal his invisible workings on our behalf.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”‬‬

Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT

So if you’re looking around thinking, “Where are you, God?”, try this simple exercise found in another famous verse.

“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God.”‬‬

Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬ ‭AMP

I chose the Amplified Bible to emphasize that ultimately knowing God is God, is an act of acceptance, not something we have to think through or debate about. It’s a settling in our soul, or a centering of our mind, when we stop and acknowledge the all-ness of God.

So if life gets you all topsy-turvy and you feel you’ve lost your way, remember God hasn’t gone fishing, or taken a nap, he’s been beside you and before you all along.
