True Life Began at the Cross

Some days a song comes along and just resonates in my soul. Today was one of those days. We had “Church in the Field” this morning. The morning was cool and overcast but the previous night’s thunderstorm had given way to a few sun breaks. There is something about being in nature that just makes me want to shout, “Hallelujah, Glory to God!”
So we sang some really great songs, but the one that gave me such peace was Beauty of the Cross, written by Jonny Diaz. In particular the chorus:

The beauty of the cross is that there’s one who has redeemed my soul
The beauty of the cross is that I’m finally free and letting go
The beauty of the cross is that your grace has found me just as I am*

This speaks to me even in this season of my life. I am letting go of my fears and relishing the grace, God has provided me, to keep patience with myself as I become more and more the person true to my Papa’s design. At 55 years of age, I’m learning what it means to be free, to have peace in my soul. I have been a Christian for forty years, but only now do I feel I can be loved by God, just as I am.

How many years have I wasted, trying to impress God, or trying to earn his love. When all the time he was right there loving me. There are no words.

Thank you, Jesus, for your life given on the cross. I pray by your Holy Spirit, each one reading this would be reminded your grace and love is right there with them, just as they are in this moment.
