Gracious Love

I committed to my friend, Darla, that through the month of April I would email her everyday as I work on writing a 30 day devotional. The scripture and insight for today I want to share with you all.

1 John 3:1-2, 11, & 18
The Voice (VOICE)
1 Consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us—He calls us children of God! It’s true; we are His beloved children. And in the same way the world didn’t recognize Him, the world does not recognize us either. 2 My loved ones, we have been adopted into God’s family; and we are officially His children now. The full picture of our destiny is not yet clear, but we know this much: when Jesus appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him just as He is…11 The central truth—the one you have heard since the beginning of your faith—is that we must love one another…18 My little children, don’t just talk about love as an idea or a theory. Make it your true way of life, and live in the pattern of gracious love.

I’m beginning to see a pattern here for the choices we make in what we choose to do, Maybe the question isn’t about what God has planned for my life, but how am I to use what God has given me to graciously love those he puts in my life. It almost seems too simple! But it also seems less stressful and more achievable. I can live this now, I can do this now, I don’t have to wait and become more accomplished or more proficient.

God lavishly loves us! Can I, can we follow his example?
