Ephesians 2:8-10, The Voice.
8-9 For it’s by God’s grace that you have been saved. You receive it through faith. It was not our plan or our effort. It is God’s gift, pure and simple. You didn’t earn it, not one of us did, so don’t go around bragging that you must have done something amazing. 10 For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago
.
Being a poet myself, I love the reference of “heaven’s poetry etched on lives.” Other translations speak of God’s masterpiece, workmanship, and handiwork. When I first read this scripture it was in the New Jerusalem Bible; “We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has already designated to make up our way of life.” My husband is an artist and it brought home the concept so clearly to me, I loved being called a work of art! Later I even wrote a song declaring, “I am God’s work of art, I am, I am!”
But if I only focus on this part I miss the best part! Faith is the only requirement on my part when it comes to salvation! God has done all the work, through Jesus! So then the question you can ask yourself is, “If God has done all the work, what are the good works he’s referring to in this scripture?”

Tapestry
My life is like a tapestry woven from above,
I cannot see the grand design created in love.
This line it has a purpose, this color fits the plan,
These threads are being knotted by the Master’s hand.

The picture is not clear to me but in my heart I know,

An excellent devotional … a beautiful and insightful poem … you are indeed walking in the midst of God’s ordained works for you … as the Lord weaves another strand into the beautiful tapestry … the work of art … the masterpiece He is perfecting in you!
