Peaceful, cheerful, and kind; what do these three words have in common? They are feel good words, words that even just saying them make you smile. Go ahead and say them out loud. How did they make you feel?
Now let’s add a few more words to them: a peaceful heart, a cheerful look, and kind words. Now we’re looking at involvement. How we are being, what we are doing, or what we are receiving.
These words have something more powerful in common than just making us feel good, they actually affect the health of our body and our heart (soul). Take a look at the following proverbs:
Proverbs 14:30 A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.
Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.
Proverbs 16:24 Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body
A Peaceful Heart
Is it time for an attitude adjustment? Right now I’m feeling a little anxious about a procedure I’m having done today, and I can feel the effects in the pit of my stomach and the tension in my muscles. But as I latch on to the peace that Jesus promised to give, I feel my body relaxing.
A Cheerful Look
You know the saying “if looks could kill,” we all have been on the receiving end of one of those looks? What did that feel like? If I contrast that with the last time i ran into a friend and they smiled from ear to ear, I can’t help but feel light and giddy just thinking about it.
Kind Words
Misery loves company, by way of pulling us down with poisonous words. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
Getting healthy is more than changing our diet and exercising more, it’s also about our thoughts, feelings, and how we interact with each other. Peacefulness, cheerfulness, and kindness can positively affect our health even more than carrots and cardio.
I find myself wanting to give you a cheerful look, but I’ll settle for a few kind words. You have made my day by taking time to read what I write, I just want to say thank you! May you feel loved and blessed today.
love you!
