Fire

On August 30th, sometime around 10 or 11 pm, my son and his two roommates’ mobile home burned to the ground. The fire destroyed four vehicles, plus an ATV, a motorcycle and a boat. And most heartbreakingly, took the life of my son’s dog, Jaxson.

When you face stormy seas I will be there with you with endurance and calm; you will not be engulfed in raging rivers. If it seems like you’re walking through fire with flames licking at your limbs, keep going: you won’t be burned.

Isaiah 43:2 (VOICE)

I thank God everyday for the neighbor who risked his life to pull my sleeping son out his bedroom window. My son was dreaming about choking before he realized he was actually choking from the smoke. He spent two days in the hospital for smoke inhalation. One of his roommate suffered some minor burns and a broken toe trying to kick in a locked door trying to get to my son. Both he and his wife were first out of the house and were able to save their dog and get help. Unfortunately, there was no homeowners insurance and only my sons two vehicles were insured beyond liability insurance.

I started a GoFundMe for my son and one was started for him by his employer and another two for his roommates by their family members. I have watched and been amazed as donations have poured in from so many people: Family, friends, friends of family, coworkers, employers of family, and some I’m not sure who they are.

All this taking place while I’m recovering from back surgery that I had on August 28th, just two days before the fire. I watched my daughter’s, not only rally around their brother, but also around me. If it were not for all their love and support I would have sunken into depression. I am so thankful for my family!

I want to give thanks to God, to the neighbor, to my husband and family, and to everyone who has prayed or donated, whether money, or clothing, or goods, for my son and his roommates.

…God has sent me to give them a beautiful crown in exchange for ashes, to anoint them with gladness instead of sorrow, to wrap them in victory, joy, and praise instead of depression and sadness…

Isaiah 61:3 (VOICE)

One more thing, the fire was started by faulty wiring and not by God, or carelessness, or human vices, or the devil; but God will certainly bring about a positive end result. As God says – a beautiful crown. 👑
