He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
Psalm 147:3,5 (ESV)
January is a great month for reflection. By the time February rolls around I generally have a greater understanding of my hopes and dreams, and what changes I want to make in my life.
If you are reading this blog post, you’ll know I’m a blogger. I’ve been at this for quite some time and I love writing these little bits of thoughts. You may also know—if you know me in the physical world or if you’ve followed me for a while—that I am in the process of publishing a novel.
As a writer, I have written songs, poems, blog posts, and fictional stories, (of which only the blog posts have been published so far.) I have narrowed my efforts to just the two areas of blogging and fiction writing and was thinking about it the other day, because they seem, on the surface, to pull me in different directions. It would make sense to narrow my focus. To pursue excellence in one area at a time. So why am I investing my time to do both? What is my purpose?
I came to realize that my hope is the same, that through my stories and through these posts, I want to share the light of Jesus with those who are wounded and hurting. Sharing the truths I have found that help me in my daily struggles. Truths that make a difference. Truths that fill me with joy, peace, and hope.
The presentation may be different, but the message is the same. We all have wounds, we all need hope, and God is here, ready and willing to show us the way.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Romans 15:13 (ESV)
I encourage you to take a few moments and read these two scriptures again. Hear the heart of God towards you. His deep desire is for you to be healed and whole; body, soul, and spirit. He is powerful and understanding. He wants you to be full of peace and joy. Don’t settle for less.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
