What do you do on a God-less day? A day that feels heavy and purposeless? That’s a question I asked myself today. I was feeling fat, depressed and uninspired. Do you know what I mean? Truly, I know God is with me… I just can’t quite feel him.
Two verses came to mind as I tried to dig out of my funk:
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
James 4:8a (ESV)
and…
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
One thing that helps me is to go for a walk. Fortunately, today is a beautiful sunny day and I was able to get out for a walk on the beach. But not every day is sunny. On those days I’ll listen to music or write a letter to God, then write down his response.
But, let me back-track. Before I can do anything, I have to acknowledge my feelings and know God is there to help me change them. It is a course correction. If I wallow, I spiral down, but if I remember God’s promises I can find him walking right beside me.
I would like to share one more resource that I have found encouraging and invaluable. I highly recommend signing up for this free gift of Daily Thoughts on God and Creativity by Allen Arnold. You can sign up here.
I pray for your God-less days to turn into overflowing God-full days. That you will find the encouragement to seek him knowing you will find him right beside you.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
