Sitting in God’s Love

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I knew I shouldn’t have done it. I ignored the warning and did it anyway. Afterward, I felt guilt and regret and prayed for forgiveness, beating myself up because I knew better.

I couldn’t hear God because of the cacophony of negative thoughts blaring in my mind. I had given the devil a foothold to berate me and I couldn’t find my escape.

That’s when I heard God say, “Sit in my love.”

Selah

Do you know how hard it is to sit in God’s love when you can’t imagine why God would love you when you disappoint Him over and over again, when you can’t get your act together and be the super strong Christian you believe everyone expects you to be?

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.

Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT

It took me awhile just sitting, contemplating His love. There was no rush, no striving. I received His forgiveness and the devil lost his foothold.

If you find yourself where I was – you can find there is forgiveness, there is hope waiting for you as you sit in God’s love.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
