I returned home from my first in-person writers conference (#RealmMakers2023) last night around 11:00 pm (with a 2 hour time difference my body said it was 1:00 am). I was so exhausted that when I slipped out of the truck my legs had the strangest sensation, like I had just gotten off of a boat and the ground felt unstable. My head was sagging and my eyes were drooping, but I managed to make it into bed before I collapsed.
Today all I want to do is eat and sleep.
But…
There are so many things to unpack, and I don’t just mean my suitcase. The conference was amazing, If you are a Christian who writes any kind of speculative fiction you need to go next year. I have new friends and new connections on top of all the new information.
The scripture that came to mind—
Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.
Galatians 6:9 AMP
Although I may be mentally and physically tired, it is a good tired. The kind that comes from putting in the work, doing the good things that will produce a harvest in the garden God has me tending.
Beyond this encouragement, let me add one more—
Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:17 AMP
Now it’s time for lunch and a nap. Have a great week and I’ll see you on Friday.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
