Opening Up to Possibilities

I’m looking forward to writing on this topic, it’s something God is working on in my own life.

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭ESV

Have you ever read the statement that “with God all things are possible,” and wondered if God would make impossible things happen in your life. This is one of those scriptures that I end up dancing around and making excuses that even though it’s true it doesn’t mean it applies to my life or my situation. Obviously, God expects me to travel the hard route around the mountain. No moving mountains in my faith journey. Right?

But what if I’m just being closed-minded or shortsighted? What if I’m just afraid my faith isn’t strong enough to believe?

The niggling going on in my spirit is telling me God has a point of growth for me to embrace and my fearfulness is an obstacle He and I need to address.

I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

John‬ ‭14‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT

Here is another scripture reminding us that anything is possible. It repeats the phrase “ask for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Is that a simple requirement like the prayer add-on Christians use “in Jesus name we pray”? Or is their a deeper meaning to those words?

Jesus explains this more thoroughly in this next passage.

So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.

But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.

John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬, ‭7‬ ‭TPT

I like the way the The Passion Translation translates abiding or remaining, as living in life-union. This is the connection. This is why we can have great, impossible things in our lives. This next passage, Jesus invites us to partner with him.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28-‭30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As we join with Jesus, he not only lifts our burdens but teaches us His way of doing things. The heaviness of life on our own begins to open up to the possibilities God has planned for us.

Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.

Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.

Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬-‭20‬ ‭TPT‬‬

There is so much more God wants for you and me, beyond what we can think up. That is the point of this post. I don’t want to close the door thinking something is outside the realm of possibility because I can’t do it on my own. If God is leading me toward something, I should release my fear and embrace His love for me. With an open mind, an open heart, and a vibrant connection to Jesus, the possibilities will manifest.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
