Know the importance of the season you’re in and a wise (per)son you will be. But what a waste when an incompetent (per)son sleeps through his day of opportunity!
Proverbs 10:5 TPT (parenthesis are mine)
Don’t you love when God speaks clearly by multiple avenues? That’s been my experience this week. Between my Bible plan reading, friends sharing, pastors preaching, and my own searching for inspiration for my novel, it is all coming together like a beautiful garden.
It began with a story idea I had two years ago. A story I’ve been writing off and on, struggling to convey my original intent. It was to be a story written in fairytale fashion about a girl mentored by her grandfather in how to have a fruitful life. I wanted it to have real life application, showing how the Holy Spirit produces the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. And what can come against us and what can help us be more fruitful.
I kept stumbling over “rocks” in my way. Wanting it to be easy, I would put writing aside until I could get my thoughts together.
Until this week.
The message that God was speaking? Don’t wait around, put in the work, till the soil, plant the seed, water the garden… You get the idea. I had equated God working through me, with me not working. (Or more specifically, not working hard.)
But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.”
James 2:18 GNT
Maybe instead of stumbling over the rocks, I dig them up. Who knows? With enough rocks I could build a decorative border around my garden.
So what would Grandfather say? “Joy blooms where the garden is well tended.”
But what was sown on good, rich soil represents the one who hears and fully embraces the message of the kingdom. Their lives bear good fruit—some yield a harvest of thirty, sixty, even one hundred times as much as was sown.
Matthew 13:23 TPT
Now I’m excited to keep writing.
So what are you waiting for? A sign from heaven? I think you already know what he wants you to do. Tell your doubts and fears to be quiet, put on your boots and gloves, grab a shovel, and get out there.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
