Stopped Cold

I’m such a baby when it comes to being sick. I was ready to put on my running shoes and get busy writing my novel again when I came down with a stupid cold. Now all I want to do is sit around in my pjs and read until I’m better. Oh! And eat.

I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it okay to take a health break just when my motivation started again?

2. How do I hold onto that enthusiasm when I feel yucky?

Let’s start with number one.

For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.

Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Whenever I feel like dirt, I remember this verse. Our humanness doesn’t surprise or disappoint God. It’s okay to take time to heal.

What I didn’t realize is the proximity of this verse to another favorite passage of mine.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a great segue into question number two. When I recount the things God has done, I remember he is still there and will be bringing me forward with him.

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.

Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭TPT

I will gain my enthusiasm and motivation back, for I have God’s power at work in me. I can let go of the dips in the road, knowing that the path still leads me upward.

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I won’t lose my motivation because of a cold, for God is my motivation. He has me securely in his hand.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
