More More

Last week I posted about my word for 2025, More. Today I want to continue our conversation.

As I contemplated what “more” will look like, I realized my interpretation may not be what God has in mind. My immediate thought went to getting my novel published, which in my imagination would give me permission to say “yes” to every opportunity, spending money on courses or apps that would grow my craft, and paying for the editing necessary to offer the best story possible. I considered “more” as God granting me permission for indulgence, rather than a call to draw near, to listen and obey.

Will it mean my book will get published? Possibly. But I don’t think that is the point. He has eternity in mind, which means “more” growth for me. Let me repost my scripture.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I chose a different translation this time, because this one more clearly conveys a feeling of past, present, and future. With God knowing it all while we are living in the process.

This next verse reveals that process.

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We can see and reflect His glory, but we don’t always look. We let our own agenda take our focus, just like I was doing with imagining my book being what “more” God had in store for me.

What “more” does the Bible reveal for us?

I am the Gateway. To enter through me is to experience life, freedom, and satisfaction. A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect —life in its fullness until you overflow!
‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Abundance — life in its fullness — is not a gift of worldly substance it is living with God’s fullness within us.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So how will I find the “more” God wants for me?

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I still think my “more” will bring about the publication of my novel, but my sights will be set on drawing closer to God, because there may be even more He has for me than I can imagine.

I pray you will find His “more” for you in 2025.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
