I have just a quick post today, but still just as powerful! Isn’t that just like God to be able to pack so much power in a few words. I have just two scriptures that came to mind last night as I asked the Lord for direction, but when I read he verses this morning he gave me one more. So here we go.
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
Psalms 23:1 NLT
First off, I remember reading this translation for the first time and thinking I didn’t like the way they changed it from “I shall not want.” After all, that’s not how we learned it. And “I shall not want” sounds more like a commandment, something to strive for. Right?
But “I have all that I need” is a statement of truth even if we don’t always see it. Let’s go to my next verse.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 NLT
Peter is reminding us of the very same truth: we have everything we need! And he goes on to share just how to manifest that in our lives, “by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself.” It was this last statement that led me to my final word for you today.
“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me.”
And so we come full circle. This truth is full of peace and contentment for the one who will believe it.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
