It’s amazing how a rainy day or a lack of sleep can affect a person. Especially if it’s on top of a long list of other stressors. So what’s a person to do? How can we get out of a funk?
It was fortuitous that the Bible plan we started today talked about this very subject. I had picked this plan a while ago deciding the topic was one I needed, and now was the right time.

The author started by saying our thoughts shape who we are, who we become. The scriptures were ones I was well acquainted with, but since I want to be honest with you, I still couldn’t put them into practice. I feel like I’m just waiting for this day to be over after getting up at 3:00 am when my dog, Meg, had another seizure.
I think that it’s okay to be a slug on occasion, but when it creeps into the next day and the next, well, just don’t. Take these scriptures and meditate on them. Pray and ask God to make his word come alive in your spirit. So let’s get started.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 NLT
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2 NIV
For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, and revealed to the eyes of Him with whom we have to give account.
Hebrews 4:12-13 AMP
My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.
And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition?
James (Jacob) 1:2-8 TPT
Since I have slug brains today, I’ll refrain from commenting on these verses and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. I took two verses from the plan and added two of my own. I pray they will meet you where you’re at.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
