I’m so excited to write this blog post! As Christmas approaches my thoughts turn to Jesus and what my life was like before I knew him. And how because of Jesus, previously impossible things have happened in my life.
This equation came to mind — Me + Jesus = ____________. Can you fill in the blank on your own life? The possibilities are incomprehensible. But I’ll start with a few things on my list.
Salvation.
Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
Romans 5:6-8 MSG
Forgiveness.
He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:10-12 ESV
Ever-present love.
So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
Romans 8:38-39 TPT
Healing.
A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
Matthew 8:2-3 NIV
Support.
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you; don’t be distressed, for I am your God. I give you strength, I give you help, I support you with my victorious right hand.”
Yesha ‘yahu (Isa) 41:10 CJB
Direction.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you.”
Psalms 32:8 AMP
Peace.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 CSB
Rather than trying to tell all the ways Jesus has specifically done previously impossible things for me, I hope this generalization will open your eyes to what he has done or can do in your life. The possibilities are endless.
For with God nothing will be impossible.
Luke 1:37 NKJV
