All praises belong to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he is the Father of tender mercy and the God of endless comfort. He always comes alongside us to comfort us in every suffering so that we can come alongside those who are in any painful trial. We can bring them this same comfort that God has poured out upon us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (TPT)
When I’m depressed I need comfort. When I’m anxious I need comfort. When I’m suffering from chronic pain I need comfort. Sometimes I feel like a sponge absorbing God’s comfort and forgetting to pour out. Sometimes I forget to seek his comfort attending my own pity party.
Father,
When I am suffering
I feel most like a child.
I want to feel your comfort.
Come, calm my fears,
Lift my spirit,
And bring healing to my body.
Then send me with comfort for another.
Amen
