All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)
If a man has a hundred sheep, and one wanders away and is lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others and go out into the hills to search for the lost one? And if he finds it, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine others safe at home! Just so, it is not my Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:12-14 (TLB)
I think there are times when we know we are lost and other times when we don’t know we are lost. It’s those times, when I am so sure I am on the right path, when I’ve done my research and made what I’ve determined to be a good decision, yet have left God out of it, that I find myself confused by my outcome and in need of direction.
Lord,
You are the Good Shepherd.
When I am in your care,
I am secure.
You lead me to restful places,
And you lead me to bountiful places.
When I wander off
You rescue me,
Because you love and care for me.
Amen
