Every good gift bestowed, every perfect gift received comes to us from above, courtesy of the Father of lights. He is consistent. He won’t change His mind or play tricks in the shadows.

James 1:17 (VOICE)

I’m curious. How many days can I write about the good and perfect gifts God gives? Can I fill a month’s worth of posts? I just know I need this right now. My focus has been on my lack. It’s time to focus on my abundance. Do you need a change of focus, too?

If there is something good in our lives, we can rest assured that it comes from God. If it’s good it’s God, there is no trick, no deception, no shadow in his nature. Perfect, is harder for us to comprehend, because sometimes the gift we receive involves work or developing or testing before it feels like it was the perfect gift. That’s where viewpoint makes a difference. God sees the end from the beginning, while we are sojourners on this timeline viewing things as they progress.

As I continue through this series, this scripture will serve as a measure and as our anchor to what gifts come from God.

Father of Lights,

Thank you for your good and perfect gifts.
I pray for open my eyes to see each gift you have given me.
I pray for open hands and an open heart to receive and embrace each gift.
Focus my eyes on you and not on the gifts you give,
May your gifts in me be a blessing to others,
And bring you glory.
