What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31 NKJV
I had an aha moment the other day while listening for the Holy Spirit. He took this scripture and had me ask myself the question. “If God is for me, who can stand against me.” The answer came immediately, I can! I am the one who stands in my way. What a revelation!
God is for me. He wants me to do the good works he has planned for me.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
He declares:
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19b ESV
And again:
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Psalm 23:5a ESV
If God is ready and willing, why do I drag my feet? Why do I think I can’t do the things he wants me to do? It seems to me I have misplaced my hope.
I have put my hope in my ability to attain the skills and experience to be the writer (the singer, the wife, the person) I want to become. This doesn’t work because I place stumbling blocks in my way. The more I place, the more real they become.
God is calling me to put my hope in him. It’s the path he leads me on that I want to be on. The path that leads to the good works for his glory, not mine.
Do you stand in your own way? Are you ready to put your hope in God, letting him take you down a path without knowing where it leads, or how you will get there?
It’s time to get out of the way.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy
