A Vessel of God’s Love

I’m not the best at staying positive. This morning my thoughts kept sifting through what wasn’t working or what I wasn’t doing. I couldn’t get past the feeling of not being good enough.

Not wanting to write an uninspired blog post, I quieted my mind and sought the Holy Spirit. What he had to say encouraged me and I hope will encourage you, too.

My novel may not be coming together as I’d hoped, but God didn’t call me to be a writer—he called me to be a vessel of his love. Sometimes that looks like a novel or a blog. Sometimes it looks like a hug, a smile, or an encouraging word. His love can be expressed in so many ways. Jesus said:

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

John‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬ ‭ESV

This is something that everyone can do. It doesn’t depend on education or natural talent. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, an expert or just starting. You can love others while checking their groceries or performing open heart surgery. God’s love can flow through you if you let it.

When I look at my writing from this perspective, all the sudden I’m excited again. I have wind in my sails. If I can extend God’s love to one person through my writing, then I am blessed.

If you are falling short of the goals you’ve set for yourself, I encourage you to pray for God to show you how you can love others through your efforts. Let’s spread a little love together and watch him work.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
