Do You Need Perfect Peace?

I had a conversation with Holy Spirit the other day, and though I don’t remember the exact words He spoke, I do remember the scripture.

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He brought up the fact that my thoughts had been all over the place. He told me He missed our conversations. I didn’t feel chastised, but I did understand how anxiety had taken over my mind.

The solution to my wayward thoughts was clear; I needed to bring my thoughts back to the One I trusted with my life.

(Cast) all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 we’re admonished to take our thoughts captive to obey Christ. In the verses above, the truth of God’s desire for relationship is clear. He wants to take care of us. When we take our anxious thoughts and cast them on Him, and when we trust Him with the things that cause us to worry, fixing our thoughts on God — who He is and what He’s done — the scripture promises He will keep us in perfect peace. How amazing is that promise!

This promise doesn’t require us to fix our situation, be better, or more religious. It doesn’t require our problems to disappear, or our life to be on solid ground. In the midst of our worries, we can remember our God and be at peace in His care.

Have you been running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off? I hate to use that analogy, but it seems fitting. Remember who it is you believe in. Fix your thoughts on Him and see if His promise holds true. It did for me.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
