Feeling the Pressure

You’ve guessed it. I’m feeling the pressure today. Why? I’m guessing it’s because I’m a dreamer. I love to imagine all the things I could do and I add things every time something sparks my interest. Marketing gurus target people like me with enticing offers to get me to sign up now. I think someone should come up with a F.O.M.O.A. (Fear of Missing Out Anonymous) counseling group. All of us would sign up because of our fear of missing out. Lol!

What I need is to incorporate some more helpful traits, like prioritizing, planning, and doing. It’s not like I can’t do those things, it’s just my dreamer brain has all my interests swirling around like a tornado.

Am I hopeless? Can I find help in scripture? Let’s find out.

Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil. If you do this, it will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body.
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭ERV‬‬

I debated on including verses 7 & 8, because my main point is in 5 & 6. But if following this instruction is refreshing and healing, by default the outcome would be the opposite. Just look at what studies have shown on the effects of stress on the body.

This next passage has me looking at it a little differently.

My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.

And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition?
‭‭James (Jacob)‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The first part has always been difficult to understand. Why would we consider trials as opportunities for joy? But let’s focus on that word – opportunity. This passage teaches us how to look at difficulties and failures. In the midst of them we are learning endurance and are given an opportunity to ask God for wisdom. It’s like putting the Proverbs passage into action. 1. Stop trying to figure it out. And 2. Let God guide you in the right direction.

So, as I read my solution of incorporating more helpful traits again, I see I left off the most important solution to my overload, ask God for wisdom. Have faith.

Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Well, part of me wants to keep after this track of thought while the other part needs to move on to the next thing on my schedule. I hope I’ve shared enough to encourage and entertain you.

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
