I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)
I hadn’t thought about the connection between hope and joy until it came up in my current devotional. It does make sense if you think about it. The times when my depression hits, I lose hope, my thoughts turn dark and despair creeps in. I scrabble to hold onto anything solid and positive.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 (NLT)
Look at the verses. When we find our hope, there will be flooding and filling and overflowing. It is an eternal fountain of joy, peace, and light that flows from hope continually. Hope is the key.
Why, I ask myself, are you so depressed? Why are you so upset inside? Hope in God! Because I will again give him thanks, my saving presence and my God.
Psalm 42:5 (CEB)
Grace & Peace,
