Looking Forward, Looking Back and Written are the two posts where I introduce my One Word for this past year and the next. In them I give my supporting scriptures and I even had a song this year. But since you are probably too busy to read these, I’ll summarize.
This year’s word was Fresh—fresh approach, fresh perspectives, fresh adventures, and fresh opportunities were some of the thoughts that came to mind. So I opened myself up to trying something new. I took my dog to an obedience class, I joined Sweet Adelines, I attended two writers conferences in person, I submitted to critiques on my two novels, and I entered two writing contests. Everyone of these demanded courage that was beyond my comfort level, but with God’s word in my pocket, I had the confidence to try and I’m glad I did.
I wasn’t sure Written would be my new word, but as I get closer to the new year I find new ways God is applying it. First, to help me feel secure.
See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
Isaiah 49:16a NLT
Next was to give me confidence in knowing God.
The new covenant that I will make with the people of Israel will be this: I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Jeremiah 31:33 GNT
They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.
Romans 2:15 NLT
I know God is in control, He has my future in His hand.
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded (written) in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Psalms 139:16 NLT (parentheses mine)
Then He started expanding to practical applications. Getting things written down, like writing to do lists and setting goals. And maybe, just maybe, getting my novel written and published.
I look forward to watching this word play out in 2024. I pray your word will act as a boon in your life as God reveals the depth of His intentions.
Grace & Peace,
Sandy

»“The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; with a point of diamond it is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of their altars,«
Jeremiah 17:1 ESV

This is by no means an encouraging scripture pero it is beautiful: written with a pen of iron; with a point of diamond it is engraved on the tablet of their heart- May you words be fruitful. Engraved on hearts and lives as a beacon to hope.
