You Want a Piece of Me?

This quote is not what I would have expected to hear from God this morning. I’m sure it isn’t what you would expect me to write about, either. But I understand it and I will explain.

I’ve been depressed and in more pain than usual and was struggling with the notion of writing an encouraging blog post when I was feeling defeated. What the Holy Spirit conveyed with these words was, even holding on to one piece of God is enough. Like one small piece of faith.

…For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Let me give you some examples of scriptures I would choose today.

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever.
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭16‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Knowing the Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus from the Father, is with me right now to help me, is amazing. Knowing He’ll be here tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, to forever, is beyond amazing. Holding onto just this one piece of Jesus is powerful beyond measure.

He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When I feel weary and defeated this scripture reminds me of God’s loving care. He’s not uninvolved or uninterested in my well-being. And while I’m in the meadow, resting by the peaceful stream, my strength is being renewed.

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There are many words that describe how big our God is: eternal, infinite, omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. There are pieces of God that are too high to grasp with our mortal experience, but that doesn’t lessen the power of the pieces we can grasp.

So, I challenge you today to find one powerful piece of God, one scriptural truth, that when He asks, “You want a piece of me?” You can say, “Yes, please. I really need and believe this one piece.”

Grace & Peace,

Sandy
