Gifts: Faith

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us…

Romans 12:3,6 (ESV)

Paul is saying, “Let’s be real.” We each have been given (assigned or allotted) different amounts of faith. While some gifts are given without measure, faith is given in relation to our gifting and purpose in the body of Christ. The thought here is we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others, either thinking we are better or thinking we are lesser, for we have the right amount of faith to use the gifts God has given us.

Lord,

I have been guilty of comparing my faith with others.
Either puffed up or receding to the shadows.
But you have created me individually,
Purposefully.
Help me to rest in who I am,
Unafraid to function in the gifts you have given.

Amen
