30 Days to Happiness: L Is for Listen
I thought this post was excellent! It made me want to go find someone to listen to, to see how I’m doing.
L is for
Listen
and
laughter,
but first things first. My guide word, “listen” reminds me to pay attention to what others are saying. I especially try to practice this when my husband, Larry and my youngest son, Jay are telling me things. Learning to listen is going to lead to greater happiness for me and for those I love. It will also have a positive effect on everyone I am listening to because it shows respect and gives value to people. Talking comes so naturally to us because there is a running conversation going on in our head all of the time. All we have to do is open our mouth and our thoughts are sure to come out. This is sometimes how we end up with our “foot in our mouth.” Learning to listen can be extremely beneficial as it requires our mouth to be closed and our…

Being a Firework
Photo Courtesy of PDPhoto.org I was thinking I needed to get back to writing my blog, with more emphasis on something good or helpful. Taking one of my ideas and running with it. That's when I realized, like the song, I am a firework. I have times when I am excited and I have these …
Fatigued, Frustrated, and Failing
Sometimes being open about your life means sharing the mess. My goal is to encourage others, but today I will remember that it's okay to need encouragement. Matthew 5:45 - "...For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike." (NLT) I …
Crashing Head On Into The Future
My last quick post was just to let you know about my crash, but now I'm further into the story and have a bit to tell you. First more pictures: The accident began a stress filled week for me! I took a week of my vacation, and cancelled my birthday party because the snow was …
Will Your Marriage Last?
I am happy to introduce you to this wonderful lady, Sharon, who blogs at sharybary.wordpress.com. I thought this post was worth repeating.
If there’s one thing I know about, it is marriage. If there’s one thing I am passionate about, it is marriage. If there is one thing I would give each person in the world, it would be a happy and successful marriage that lasts forever.
What does that look like? It is two people who still light up when they see the other person.
It is two magnets attracted to each other years after that first attraction.
It is going through things and talking through things and knowing that you are going to talk through things and go through things.
It is not using the d-i-v-o-r-c-e word because you know that is not a path you want to consider ever.
It is knowing that love is a choice and love is more than a choice. Love is. Love is a gift given from God and given to each other.
It…

X, Y, Z is for …
I’ve come to a decision; I only have enough to say if I do all the last three letters together. With X, Y, Z, representing together the end of the alphabet, I come to the end of this particular journey. By all rights X starts very, very few words. On the other hand E-X is …
V is for …
Vivacious - exhibiting or characterized by liveliness and high-spiritedness. (Encarta Dictionary) It’s funny, how this letter V has been evading me. I want it to speak of Victory, because victory is such an obvious V word. But the Spirit keeps nudging me with Vivacious! How can that be me? Vivacious can also mean: full of …
U is for …
Understanding, Uncovering, and Under the shadow of His Wings. I needed some help with U, and I knew just where to find it. Ephesians 1:18-20 New Living Translation (NLT) 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy …

Okay, now I’m back to positive changes! Yippee! (I still have one more day doing books at the other Safeway, though.) I am Thrilled to start Thinking about good Things. One positive change I’ve made has to do with Touch. I’m pausing here, thinking about when the change was made. My husband and I have …
